Yeti Airlines ATR 72 Aborts Takeoff in Kathmandu After Engine Failure
A Yeti Airlines ATR 72-500 has aborted its takeoff from Tribhuvan Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal. The aircraft, operating as flight YT671 to Pokhara, was on its takeoff roll when the flight crew heard a loud bang. Following the rejected takeoff, the fire alarm for the no. 2 engine activated. The crew successfully engaged the fire suppression system for the right-hand engine. All 67 occupants disembarked safely after the aircraft returned to the apron, with a subsequent inspection confirming the engine had failed.
