Wizz Air Reports Record Profits as Engine Issues Ground a Fifth of its Fleet
Wizz Air has announced a significant financial turnaround, posting a record profit of €371.5 million for the year ending in March. This result marks a strong recovery from a major loss the previous year, driven by a surge in passenger numbers. However, the airline is facing a major operational challenge, with 45 of its aircraft currently grounded. The groundings are necessary for inspections on Pratt & Whitney's Geared Turbofan engines due to a powder metal defect. Despite having a fifth of its fleet out of service, Wizz Air expects compensation and anticipates further profit growth.
