Wizz Air Reports £316m Annual Profit Amid Higher Fares and Passenger Growth

Wizz Air has announced a significant financial turnaround, posting a pre-tax profit of €371.5 million (£316m) for the year ending in March. This result marks a strong recovery from the €567m loss reported in the previous year. The airline's success was driven by a surge in passenger numbers, which grew by over a fifth to a record 62 million. Higher ticket prices and ancillary fees for extras like baggage also contributed significantly to the positive results. Despite the strong performance, the carrier continues to manage the grounding of approximately 45 aircraft due to issues with their Pratt & Whitney engines.
