Wizz Air Issues Profit Warning as Grounded Jets Impact Operations
Wizz Air has issued a profit warning, lowering its full-year financial forecast due to significant operational challenges. The airline has been forced to ground approximately 45 of its aircraft for mandatory inspections of Pratt & Whitney engines. This is part of a wider industry issue involving a rare powder metal defect in the engines that requires extensive checks. The resulting reduction in flight capacity has directly impacted the carrier's profitability. Consequently, Wizz Air has revised its net profit expectation to between €350m and €370m.
