Wizz Air Achieves Record Profits Despite Grounding Dozens of Aircraft for Engine Inspections
Wizz Air has reported record annual profits of €374.5 million, a significant financial achievement for the budget airline. This result was delivered despite the grounding of approximately 50 of its Airbus aircraft due to mandatory engine inspections. The Pratt & Whitney engines require checks for microscopic cracks, a widespread issue affecting multiple carriers. The airline confirmed it has received compensation from the engine manufacturer, which helped mitigate the financial impact of the grounded fleet. Alongside its profitability, Wizz Air also carried a record 62 million passengers, an increase of 21% from the previous year.
