US Air Force Selects General Atomics and Anduril for Collaborative Combat Aircraft Program
The U.S. Air Force has awarded contracts to General Atomics and Anduril to develop its next-generation Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA). This decision marks a critical step in the service's plan to field autonomous drones designed to fly alongside manned fighter jets. Both companies will now proceed to build and test production-representative versions of their uncrewed aircraft. The CCA initiative aims to create a large fleet of these 'loyal wingman' drones to enhance mission effectiveness and increase combat mass. This selection significantly narrows the competitive field for one of the Pentagon's most important future programs.
