United Express ERJ-145 Makes Emergency Landing in Houston After Landing Gear Failure
A United Express flight operated by CommutAir was forced to return to Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) following a landing gear malfunction. The Embraer ERJ-145, en route to Monterrey, Mexico, received an unsafe indication for its left main landing gear shortly after departure. The flight crew entered a holding pattern to troubleshoot and burn fuel before attempting a landing. After a low pass confirmed the gear was not extended, the pilots successfully executed a partial gear-up landing. The aircraft sustained substantial damage, but all 52 passengers and three crew members evacuated safely.
