UK CAA Moves Forward with Mandatory Electronic Conspicuity for General Aviation
The UK's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has confirmed its plan to mandate the use of electronic conspicuity (EC) devices for general aviation aircraft. Following extensive consultation, the CAA published its decision, which aims to reduce the risk of mid-air collisions and improve airspace safety. The new rule will be implemented in phases, starting with specific airspace volumes. Pilots and aircraft owners will be given an 18-month lead-in period to comply with the requirements before the first phase becomes effective. This policy marks a significant step towards integrating GA traffic with all airspace users, including drones.
