India's Aviation Regulator Expands Oversight to Ground Handling Agencies
India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is expanding its regulatory authority to include ground handling agencies at airports. This significant policy shift aims to enhance aviation safety, security, and service quality. Under the new framework, ground handlers will be required to obtain certification and comply with standards set by the regulator. The move aligns India's aviation practices more closely with global standards, such as those from the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). The initial phase will cover major airports including Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
