UK and Turkey Finalize Training Support Deal Amid Eurofighter Typhoon Negotiations
The United Kingdom and Turkey have finalized a training and support agreement, a significant step in Ankara's bid to purchase 40 Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets. The deal was announced following a meeting in Ankara between UK Defence Secretary Grant Shapps and his Turkish counterpart, Yaşar Güler. This agreement is seen as a foundational move to pave the way for the potential multi-billion-dollar fighter acquisition. However, the final sale still requires unanimous approval from the four-nation Eurofighter consortium. Germany currently remains an obstacle to the deal, having previously blocked the sale to Turkey.
