Two Boeing 737s Return to Airports Safely After Separate Bird Strike Incidents
Two separate aviation incidents involving Boeing aircraft occurred on June 26, 2024, according to preliminary FAA reports. An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, flight AAL1440, struck a bird during takeoff from LaGuardia Airport and declared an emergency. Similarly, a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700, flight SWA1716, also encountered a bird strike upon departure from Nashville. Both flights immediately initiated precautionary procedures. The aircraft returned to their respective departure airports, landing safely without further incident or reported injuries.
