Tri-Cities Airport Enhances Emergency Response with $1M Oshkosh Striker Fire Truck

The Tri-Cities Airport has significantly upgraded its emergency response capabilities with the acquisition of a new, $1 million Oshkosh Striker 6x6 fire truck. This state-of-the-art Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicle replaces a nearly 30-year-old model. It is equipped to carry 3,000 gallons of water, 420 gallons of foam, and 500 pounds of dry chemical. A key feature is its high-reach extendable turret, or 'Snozzle,' which allows firefighters to pierce an aircraft's fuselage to fight internal fires from a safe distance. The purchase was largely funded by the Federal Aviation Administration to ensure the airport maintains the highest safety standards.
