Sunderland Secures Defender Leo Hjelde on a Four-and-a-Half-Year Deal
Sunderland has officially signed 20-year-old Norwegian defender Leo Hjelde from Leeds United for an undisclosed fee. Hjelde has agreed to a four-and-a-half-year contract, making him the club's first signing of the January transfer window. He previously gained Championship experience during a loan spell with Rotherham United last season.
