Study Reveals Key Factors Driving Passenger Preference for Low-Cost Carriers on Domestic Flights
A new academic study investigates the primary reasons passengers choose low-cost carriers (LCCs) over full-service carriers (FSCs) for domestic travel in India. The research, based on a survey of 200 passengers at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, identified the most influential factors. According to the findings, airfare remains the single most significant determinant in passenger decision-making. However, on-time performance and an airline's safety record were also found to be crucial secondary factors. The study concludes these three elements are essential for LCCs to maintain a competitive edge.
