Stratolaunch Reveals Plans For Air-Breathing Hypersonic Talon Variant
Stratolaunch is developing an air-breathing version of its Talon-A reusable hypersonic testbed, designated the Talon-A Plus (TA-2). This new variant will be powered by a scramjet engine, enabling longer-duration flights compared to the current rocket-powered TA-1. The primary goal is to provide a high-cadence, affordable flight-test capability to support the U.S. Defense Department's hypersonic development programs. By offering sustained hypersonic flight conditions, the TA-2 will allow for more advanced testing of materials, sensors, and other components. This development positions Stratolaunch as a key provider for the growing hypersonic test market.
