Singapore Defers Implementation of Sustainable Aviation Fuel Levy for Travellers
The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has announced the deferral of its planned levy on travellers for the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). This decision follows extensive consultations with industry stakeholders and the public. The levy was originally part of the Singapore Sustainable Air Hub Blueprint, which aims for flights departing from the city-state to use 1% SAF by 2026. While the SAF usage targets remain in place, CAAS will now re-evaluate the best mechanism to fund the green transition. The authority will continue discussions to refine the policy before introducing any cost-sharing measures for passengers.
