Shetland Airport Staff Vote for Strike Action Over Pay Dispute
Ground staff for Loganair at Sumburgh Airport in Shetland have overwhelmingly voted in favor of strike action. Members of the Unite union, employed by Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd (HIAL), unanimously backed the move in a dispute over pay. The union has labeled the current pay offer as unacceptable. HIAL states it is constrained by the Scottish government's public sector pay policy and has urged the union to suspend the action. The strike by check-in staff, baggage handlers, and ground crew threatens to cause significant disruption to flights. Dates for the industrial action have not yet been announced.
