Ryanair Blasts EU Proposal for Mandatory Free Cabin Bags
Ryanair is strongly opposing a European Union proposal to mandate a standardized, free cabin bag allowance for all passengers. The airline's CEO, Michael O'Leary, described the initiative as 'stupid,' arguing it would ultimately lead to higher fares for everyone. He defended Ryanair's current unbundled model, where a small personal item is free but a larger cabin bag incurs a fee, as a way to keep base ticket prices low. O'Leary warned that forcing airlines to include baggage would increase operational costs and slow boarding times. These additional expenses would then be passed directly on to consumers through higher ticket prices.
