Russia Claims Future MiG-41 Interceptor Will Target Hypersonic Missiles
Russia is reportedly developing the Mikoyan PAK DP, or MiG-41, as a next-generation interceptor to replace its aging MiG-31 fleet. According to Russian defense sources, the aircraft is being designed to achieve hypersonic speeds and operate in near-space altitudes. Its most ambitious claimed capability is the ability to intercept and destroy hypersonic weapons, a feat no current aircraft can perform. The project envisions a sixth-generation stealth fighter that may also feature unmanned capabilities and advanced artificial intelligence. While still in a conceptual and developmental phase, the MiG-41 represents Russia's ambition to create a countermeasure to emerging hypersonic threats.
