Rolls-Royce Secures UK and EU Backing for Second UltraFan Demonstrator
Rolls-Royce has secured significant backing from both the UK government and the EU's Clean Aviation program to build a second UltraFan technology demonstrator. This new demonstrator, known as UF002, will be a complete powerplant including the nacelle and pylon. The project aims to further mature the revolutionary geared fan architecture for future aircraft. Testing will focus on high-power and high-thrust operations, moving the technology closer to market readiness for the 2030s. This investment de-risks the program and advances the goal of achieving a 10% fuel efficiency improvement over current engines.
