Portugal Rejects Bids for TAP Air Portugal, Plans New Privatization Process
The Portuguese government has rejected all current bids for the privatization of its national carrier, TAP Air Portugal. Proposals from major airline groups, including International Airlines Group (IAG), Lufthansa, and Air France-KLM, were considered unsatisfactory. The government is now preparing to launch a new sale process under a revised decree-law. The objective remains to sell at least a 51% stake in the airline to a strategic partner. This new partner will be expected to support TAP's growth and enhance Lisbon's role as a key international hub.
