OHB Secures Eumetsat Contract for EPS-Sterna Microsatellites
The European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (Eumetsat) has awarded a contract to Germany's OHB System AG. The contract, valued at €139 million ($150 million), is for the development and production of the EPS-Sterna microsatellite mission. This mission is a crucial component of the next-generation Eumetsat Polar System-Sagan (EPS-Sagan) program. The two initial satellites, with an option for a third, will measure radio occultation of GNSS signals to improve weather forecasting and climate monitoring. OHB will serve as the prime contractor, with the first launch scheduled for 2029.
