NEC Selects Apex Bus for 2027 LaserLink Technology Demonstration
Japanese technology company NEC will use the Apex satellite bus for its LaserLink optical communications demonstration mission, slated for a 2027 launch. The mission aims to test a high-speed, 10 gigabits-per-second laser terminal in low Earth orbit. This technology is designed to significantly accelerate data transmission between satellites and ground stations. By utilizing a standardized bus, NEC can concentrate its efforts on validating its advanced laser communication payload. The successful demonstration will be a crucial step toward establishing next-generation, high-capacity satellite networks.
