Lufthansa Nears Widebody Order Decision Between Boeing 777X and Airbus A350
Lufthansa is reportedly close to finalizing a significant new widebody aircraft order, with a decision expected in the first quarter of the year. The German airline is considering either the Boeing 777-8 or the Airbus A350-1000 for the new contract. This potential order is intended to replace the carrier's aging fleet of four-engine Airbus A340-600s. The news comes as Lufthansa, the launch customer for the Boeing 777-9, prepares for the first flight of its initial aircraft in this new series. The airline already has 20 firm orders for the 777-9 and is a major operator of the Airbus A350-900.
