Loganair Retires Saab 340 Fleet, Ushering in New Era with ATR Turboprops

Scotland's airline, Loganair, has officially retired its fleet of Saab 340 aircraft after 24 years of service on its Highlands and Islands routes. The final commercial flight for the iconic turboprop took place between Kirkwall and Inverness, marking the end of an era for the carrier. As part of a multi-million-pound investment, the aging Saabs are being replaced by modern ATR aircraft. These new planes are significantly more fuel-efficient, reducing carbon emissions by up to 27%. The airline states the new fleet will also provide a quieter and more comfortable experience for passengers.
