Loganair Loses Shetland Lifeline Flight Contract to New Operator

Loganair will no longer operate the essential 'lifeline' air services for the Shetland Islands after losing its public service contract. The Shetland Islands Council has awarded the new agreement to a different, currently unnamed, airline. These routes are critical for connecting Shetland with mainland Scotland, including cities like Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Glasgow. Loganair expressed its disappointment with the decision, which ends its long-standing service on these specific routes. The changeover to the new operator is scheduled for the autumn.
