LATAM Airlines Completes First Passenger Charter Flights Using Sustainable Aviation Fuel
LATAM Airlines has successfully operated its first international passenger charter flights using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The operation was conducted for the global salmon producer MOWI, transporting its personnel from Oslo, Norway, to Punta Arenas, Chile. Utilising a Boeing 787-9 aircraft, the flights were supplied with SAF by Air bp, achieving a reduction of approximately 75 tonnes of CO2 emissions. This initiative is a significant step in LATAM's sustainability strategy, which aims for 5% SAF usage by 2030. The airline also leveraged its Fly Greener program, allowing the client to offset the remaining emissions from the flights.
