IAG Chief Casts Doubt on 2030 Sustainable Aviation Fuel Targets, Citing Production Gaps
The head of airline group IAG, Luis Gallego, has expressed significant doubt that the aviation industry will meet its 2030 target for using 10% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). He highlighted a critical lack of production capacity as the primary obstacle to achieving this goal. Gallego noted that SAF currently costs three to five times more than traditional kerosene. While airlines are presently absorbing this financial burden, he warned these costs would eventually be passed on to passengers, impacting future airfares.
