Hauliers Urged to Capitalize on New Gulf-to-Mediterranean Trade Corridor
The International Road Transport Union (IRU) is encouraging hauliers to utilize a new trade corridor connecting the Gulf to the Mediterranean. This land route, operating under the TIR system, links the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan, providing a strategic bypass to the disrupted Red Sea. Presented as a faster and more cost-effective alternative to the traditional Suez Canal route, it integrates sea and road transport. The corridor aims to improve supply chain resilience for goods moving from Asia to Europe. This provides a more stable option compared to volatile maritime shipping and high-cost air freight.
