Hactl and Cathay Pacific Bolster Hong Kong Hub with New Greater Bay Area Cargo Strategy
Hactl's chief executive, Wilson Kwong, has endorsed a new 'fly-via-Hong Kong' strategy to integrate the Greater Bay Area's (GBA) cargo logistics. The initiative aims to solidify Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) as the premier international cargo hub for the region. In a key move, Cathay Cargo launched a new upstream barge service that connects the GBA directly to HKIA's airside terminal. This sea-air intermodal link allows cargo to be screened and palletized upstream, arriving at the airport ready for immediate loading. The new system is designed to significantly reduce handling times and costs, enhancing Hong Kong's competitiveness.
