Global Air Cargo Demand Rose 4% in April Despite Regional Disruptions
Global air cargo demand increased by 4% in April 2024 compared to the previous year, demonstrating market resilience amid regional instability. This growth occurred despite significant disruptions in the Middle East, which have impacted global trade routes. According to analysis from Xeneta, the Middle East & Central Asia to Europe corridor was the fastest-growing lane, surging by 108% as shippers rerouted ocean freight due to the Red Sea crisis. Other key routes, including China and Southeast Asia to Europe and the US, also recorded positive growth. Despite the rise in demand, the global dynamic load factor stood at 58%, a two-point decrease year-on-year.
