FedEx to Reactivate Parked MD-11 Freighters in May Amid Boeing Delivery Delays
FedEx Express has announced it will return a number of its parked McDonnell Douglas MD-11 freighters to active service this May. The decision, confirmed by CEO Raj Subramaniam, is a direct response to ongoing production delays for new Boeing 777F and 767F aircraft. By reactivating the iconic tri-jets, the logistics giant aims to bridge a capacity gap until its delayed deliveries arrive. This move temporarily extends the operational life of the MD-11, of which FedEx is the world's largest operator. The aircraft were originally parked due to a downturn in global shipping demand.
