F-15EX Returns to Kadena as 'Leading Candidate' for Permanent Basing
The F-15EX Eagle II has returned to Kadena Air Base in Japan for a second rotational deployment. This visit comes as the U.S. Air Force continues to evaluate its long-term fighter presence at the strategic Pacific base. The deployment is part of a plan to fill the void left by the retirement of Kadena’s older F-15C/D Eagle fleet. According to Pacific Air Forces commander Gen. Ken Wilsbach, the F-15EX is the 'leading candidate' to be permanently stationed at Kadena. A final decision on the base's future permanent fighter force is still pending further analysis.
