EUMETSAT Awards OHB €460 Million Contract for EPS-Sterna Arctic Mission
EUMETSAT has awarded OHB System AG a contract worth €460 million ($494 million) for the EPS-Sterna mission. This mission involves a constellation of satellites designed to provide crucial data on weather, ocean, and ice conditions in the Arctic. The contract covers the development and delivery of the first of four planned satellites. This new system is part of EUMETSAT’s broader Polar System-Second Generation (EPS-SG) program. The first satellite launch is scheduled for 2030, aiming to significantly enhance observation capabilities over the polar region.
