EUMETSAT Awards OHB €130 Million Contract for EPS-Sterna Microsatellites
The European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) has awarded a contract worth €130 million ($139.7 million) to Germany's OHB System AG. The contract is for the development and delivery of two EPS-Sterna microsatellites. These satellites are a component of the EUMETSAT Polar System-Second Generation (EPS-SG) program. Their mission will be to measure microwave radiation from the atmosphere, providing critical data to improve short-term weather forecasting. The first satellite is scheduled for launch in 2030.
