Dubai's New $35 Billion Airport Terminal to Feature 400 A380-Compatible Gates
Dubai has approved a massive AED 128 billion ($35 billion) plan to build a new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). The project aims to create the world's largest airport, with a capacity for 260 million passengers annually. In a significant move to future-proof the hub, all 400 new aircraft gates will be designed to accommodate the superjumbo Airbus A380. This strategy is tailored to support Emirates, the world's largest A380 operator, ensuring maximum operational flexibility. By designing the infrastructure from scratch, Dubai avoids the logistical constraints that limit A380 operations at older airports.
