Delta Flight Aborts Landing in Boston After Coming Within 300 Feet of Learjet
A Delta Air Lines flight was forced to execute a go-around while on final approach to Boston's Logan International Airport to avoid a potential collision. The incident occurred when a Learjet took off without proper air traffic control clearance from an intersecting runway. An aviation expert, using flight tracking data, determined the two aircraft came within 300 feet of each other vertically. The Delta flight, arriving from Edinburgh, Scotland, was approximately half a mile from the runway threshold when its pilots took evasive action. The Federal Aviation Administration has launched an investigation into the serious runway incursion.
