Charlotte Technical College Opens New Aviation Maintenance Facility at Punta Gorda Airport
Charlotte Technical College has officially opened its new aviation maintenance technician school at the Punta Gorda Airport. The 26,000-square-foot facility is a collaborative effort with the Charlotte County Airport Authority and Florida SouthWestern State College. It aims to address the significant industry-wide shortage of certified airframe and powerplant (A&P) mechanics. The state-of-the-art center includes classrooms, workshops, and a hangar for hands-on training. Students will work on various aircraft, including a donated A-7 Corsair II, to prepare for their FAA certifications.
