Carlisle Lake District Airport Terminal Closes as Operator Enters Administration
The passenger terminal building at Carlisle Lake District Airport has permanently closed following the collapse of its operator, Esken, which has entered administration. Commercial passenger flights from the airport, previously operated by Loganair, had already ceased in March 2020 due to the pandemic. Despite the terminal closure, the airport itself remains operational with a valid licence. It continues to serve general aviation, military, and private charter flights. Cumberland Council is reportedly working with administrators to secure the long-term future of the airport site.
