Boston Logan Airport Marks Historic First with Barge Delivery of Sustainable Aviation Fuel
Boston Logan International Airport has received its first-ever barge delivery of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), a significant milestone for decarbonizing air travel in Massachusetts. The fuel was supplied by World Energy and transported by a new marine vessel, marking a crucial step in building a reliable SAF supply chain. This 'drop-in' fuel, which is blended with conventional jet fuel, requires no modifications to existing aircraft or airport infrastructure. Produced from 100% renewable feedstocks, the SAF can significantly reduce carbon emissions. This initiative supports Massport's broader goal of achieving net-zero emissions.
