Air India CEO Signals Need for More Wide-Body Jets Beyond Record Order
Air India's CEO, Campbell Wilson, has confirmed the airline is actively seeking to acquire more wide-body aircraft to fuel its international expansion. This announcement comes just over a year after the carrier placed a historic order for 470 new airplanes. Wilson stated that even with the current order book, the airline is "short of wide-body aircraft" to meet its ambitious growth targets. The move is a critical part of the Tata Group's Vihann.AI transformation plan to re-establish Air India as a premier global carrier. The airline is exploring all options, including leasing and placing new orders with manufacturers.
