Boom Overture: The Strategy for Making Supersonic Travel Affordable

Boom Supersonic is developing its Overture jet with the goal of making supersonic flights as affordable as conventional business class. The company aims to avoid the economic pitfalls that grounded the Concorde, which was plagued by high operational costs and premium pricing. Overture is designed for greater efficiency, flying at Mach 1.7 and capable of running on 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). By focusing on a 64-80 passenger configuration, Boom can cater to the premium travel market while achieving economies of scale through larger production volumes than Concorde. This approach, combined with its purpose-built Symphony engine, is key to its strategy for commercially viable supersonic travel.
