Belfast International Named UK's Worst for Flight Delays for Third Consecutive Year
Belfast International Airport has been identified as the worst airport in the UK for flight delays for the third year running. An analysis of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) data for 2023 revealed that departing flights were delayed by an average of 36 minutes and 30 seconds. This performance ranks it significantly behind the second-worst airport, Gatwick, which had an average delay of just under 27 minutes. The airport's operator attributed the poor punctuality to persistent air traffic control disruptions and adverse weather. In contrast, East Midlands Airport was named the best-performing, with an average delay of only 13 minutes.
