B-21 Raider to Bolster Critically Small US Stealth Bomber Fleet
The U.S. Air Force currently relies on a fleet of only 19 B-2 Spirit stealth bombers, a number considered critically low for strategic needs. These aging aircraft are also exceptionally expensive to operate and maintain. To address this, the next-generation B-21 Raider is in development by Northrop Grumman. The Air Force plans to acquire a minimum of 100 B-21s to form the future backbone of its long-range strike force. This new aircraft is designed with advanced stealth, open-systems architecture, and greater affordability to ensure U.S. air dominance for decades.
