Azul Shifts Fleet Strategy, Prioritizing Embraer E2s Over Airbus A321XLRs
Brazilian carrier Azul is significantly altering its future fleet plan, pivoting to focus on the Embraer E195-E2 as its core aircraft. CEO John Rodgerson confirmed the airline will not proceed with its order for four Airbus A321XLRs. This decision marks a step back from the airline's ambitions for long-range, thin-route international expansion. Instead, Azul is prioritizing profitability and the strong performance of the E2 jets within its domestic and regional network. The airline will continue to receive A320neos for higher-density routes but sees the E2 as the central pillar of its fleet for the foreseeable future.
