ATSB Assists Zimbabwe with Investigation into Fatal SF-260F Training Accident
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is providing technical assistance to the Air Force of Zimbabwe in the investigation of a fatal accident. The incident involved an SF-260F aircraft on a low-level training flight near Gweru on November 24, 2023. Both the student pilot and the instructor were fatally injured in the crash. At the request of Zimbabwean authorities, the ATSB successfully recovered crucial data from the aircraft's cockpit camera recorder. This data provided video of the aircraft's final moments, showing it in a steep, descending left turn before it impacted the ground.
