American Airlines Technician Climbs Through Cockpit Window After Door Malfunction Locks Pilots Out
An American Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Dallas/Fort Worth experienced an unusual delay when its pilots were locked out of the cockpit. The door mechanism on the Boeing 737-800 reportedly malfunctioned, preventing entry from the outside. To resolve the situation, a maintenance technician used a ladder to scale the aircraft and enter the flight deck through a side window. After gaining access, the technician was able to open the door from the inside, allowing the flight to depart after a delay of about 50 minutes.
