Air Niugini's Boeing 787 Order in Doubt Amid Fleet Strategy Overhaul
Air Niugini's planned acquisition of two Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners is now facing significant uncertainty. The national airline of Papua New Guinea has initiated a comprehensive review of its entire fleet and network strategy under new leadership. Acting CEO Gary Seddon has questioned if the widebody aircraft is the right fit for the carrier's future requirements. This re-evaluation is exploring whether smaller, more versatile aircraft, such as the Airbus A220, might be more suitable. A final decision on the fleet's future, including the fate of the 787 order, is expected by the end of the first quarter of 2024.
