3M Announces Collaboration With JetZero On Blended-Wing Body Aircraft

Materials science company 3M has revealed a new collaboration with startup JetZero to advance its blended-wing body (BWB) aircraft demonstrator. The partnership will focus on leveraging 3M's advanced materials, including adhesives, coatings, and acoustic insulation, for the full-scale Z-5 demonstrator. JetZero, which is backed by the U.S. Air Force, aims to validate the structural and aerodynamic efficiency of the BWB design. This collaboration is a key step towards the demonstrator's planned first flight in 2027, with the ultimate goal of developing a highly efficient mid-market passenger aircraft.
