Wizz Air Warns of Summer Cancellations Due to Persistent Engine Issues
Wizz Air has announced it may be forced to cancel some summer flights due to ongoing issues with Pratt & Whitney engines. The airline currently has approximately 40 aircraft grounded, representing about 20% of its total fleet. The problem is linked to a contaminated metal powder in the engines, which has prompted a widespread recall by manufacturer RTX for units on the Airbus A320neo family. Wizz Air's CEO stated that the number of affected engines is expected to increase through early 2025. The carrier is seeking financial compensation from Pratt & Whitney for the significant operational disruptions.
